Your first day in the Land of Happiness! Touch down in Paro International – an airport surrounded by mountains where only a few pilots in the world are qualified to land. Feel the adrenaline rush as your plane snakes its way between the mountains. We will take the day to explore Paro in full – with a visit to the Rinpung Dzong and the National museum.
Wind your way through frangrant bluepine woods and idyllic villages. After a bit of activity, you will reach Jele Dzong where we rest and recoup. More hiking through tranquil landscape to the campsite.
Make your way through thick alpine forest and beautiful and fragrant dwarf rhododendron trees. Be on the lookout for yaks and yak herders on the way and take a minute or two to explore their place.
Take in the panoramic view of the valley below as you make your way over the ridge. At Jimilang Lake, and with good permission from the forestry office, you may catch a trout or two.
Another day of hiking through tranquil alpine landscapee populated by fragrant dwarf rhodos. We will pass by the Janetshho Lake, and make our way to Simkotra Lake for the nightfall.
Gently ascend towards Phadoding. With luck and good weather, you can catch a panoramic view of Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the tallest mountain in Bhutan – also the highest unclimbed mountain in the world. We will stop at the beautiful Phajoding Monastery for the night.
After a hearty campsite-cooked breakfast, we heard to the throbbing heart of Bhutan – Thimphu. In the afternoon, we will explore the richness of Thimphu
Take the car to Paro, for today is the day! We will make up the hill towards Taktshang (Tiger’s Nest) at a relaxed pace. Explore Paro valley in the afternoon. Enjoy a night with a local family.
